Judge Lawson E. Thomas Mural

Veo Veo, I See I See, Mwen Wè, Mwen Wè, the first interactive mural, is located at 1021 NW 2nd Avenue, Miami, FL, the office building of the late Judge Lawson E. Thomas. Thomas was Miami-Dade County's first Black judge, who presided over the only racially segregated court system in the United States known as the "Negro Municipal Court." The mural was created by artist Anthony Reed II, known as "Mojo," and pays homage to this important place and its history.

International Longshoremen Association Local 1416

Miami MoCAAD's second interactive mural honors the International Longshoremen Association (ILA) Local 1416, an essential part of the Overtown community since April 7, 1936. The ILA Local 1416 has historically assisted Miami's black community by providing jobs that offered a better standard of living. Along with community enrichment, the ILA Local 1416 has been a political and community advocate for civil rights.​

Miami MoCAAD "Overtown Pitch: Game Changers” is the third mural celebrating soccer icons and community spirit, housed at the historic Carver Hotel building site. The mural serves as vibrant tribute to those who have championed change, equality, and inclusivity in soccer. Through an innovative blend of art and technology, the mural features an augmented reality and digital component, inviting viewers to engage in a shootout soccer game.​

Miami MoCAAD launched its interactive public art experience, Veo Veo, I See I See, Mwen Wè Mwen Wè, to celebrate Juneteenth 2022 and unveil OVERtown: Our Family Tree, a mural commissioned by Miami MoCAAD and created by Anthony “Mojo” Reed II.

We are committed to education and have offered Museum Youth Hackathons, Creative Conversations and oral histories at the intersection of art and technology.  In 2024, Miami MoCAAD will launch a pilot series of community art + tech workshops for junior high school students in collaboration with Girl Tech Power and the Miami Dade Public Library System.  Among other things, students will learn how to create their own QR Codes.
