Biography
Loïs Mailou Jones (1905-1998) is a Boston raised artist who explored the depths and range of various subjects both with African American culture and international cultures such as Haiti and the French. Starting out in textiles and designing, she expanded her skill with her fine arts education where she honed her technique which later shone through her vivid portraits. Her talents and contributions to the art of the Diaspora led to her serving as a cultural ambassador to Africa and teaching artists such as David Driskell and Elizabeth Catlett
